BIO (Tats Cru)
Wilfredo " Bio" Feliciano is an internationally established artist, muralist and designer whose personal and visual identity is firmly rooted in the Bronx. His Graffiti, street art, designs and canvases were shaped by and helped develop the visual identity that emerged from the cultural tensions and hard realities of the Bronx from the mid-1980s to the present. His achievements as one of the founders and mainstay members of the Graffiti collective known globally as Tats Cru were celebrated by the Bronx Museum of Arts (March 2015) and his selection by Arlene Alda in her 2015 profile of leading figures who established the Bronx as an creative and intellectual center.
In addition to his Graffiti and Street Art success, Bio has been merging graffiti and fine art in galleries worldwide. His work is currently being exhibited at Aurum In Bangkok Thailand, Golden Global Arts Gallery In Miami and Pop Gallery in NYC. In 2019 at Corey Helford in Los Angeles, Juxta Gallery in Minneapolis and Amsterdam Whitney Fine Arts Gallery in NYC.
In 2009 he developed what is today his iconic Bio heart that is seen all over the world in galleries and murals alike. It is one of the most recognized hearts in the art and graff scene today.
His solo shows “HEART” and "Reliving Color" In 2019 and 2016 at Wallworks NYC were a huge success. In 2019 He along with his Cru painted the Iconic Bowery wall as well as painted the world renowned Wynwood walls. He has collaborated with Nick Walker and John “Crash” Matos on an exhibition as well as a live painting event at The W of South Beach for American Express.
In 2020 his iconic heart was used in billboards across the US for breast cancer awareness along with another one of his works on several billboards in the US.
Bio has exhibited/painted around the globe since 1980 including NYC, London, Miami,Paris, Colombia, Germany, Poland, New Orleans, China, Canada, Morocco, Mexico, Brazil, Los Angeles, Ireland, Spain, Finland,Portugal, Puerto Rico, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand and many more.
Coming of age as a young and tough-minded graffiti writer to celebrate individuality through art, Bio and Tats Cru developed iconic styles and strategies that brought them to the attention of established international corporations, artists, celebrities and fashion designers as well as small independent and local businesses. Bio is specifically known for his mastery in lettering and intuitively developed sense of colors and composition, as well as his organizational skills. Bio’s Iconic HEART has become a fixture on murals and walls across the globe and often in his paintings. Often referred to as the Bio Heart.
The work of Bio continues to negotiate between the local, national and global, and is now credited as the single most important group in the movement of a visual street culture into public domains. Testimony comes from their feature in many publications, interviews, movies, music videos, documentaries and world-wide web presence. Celebrity and Brands clients include, among others, NY Knicks, Saks fifth avenue, Heineken, John Meyer, Metallica, Swizz Beats, Jennifer Lopez, Fendi, Lord and Taylor, Mcdonalds, Pepse, Coca Cola, Mont Blanc, Beyoncé, Fat Joe, Romeo Santos and Nikki Minaj plus numerous other clients and celebrities.
Alone and collaboratively he has worked across many countries while maintaining the Cru’s active relationship with THE POINT Community Development Corporation dedicated to youth development and the cultural and economic revitalization in the South Bronx. The Cru’s small office in Hunts Point has become the largest small gathering place in the world for Graffiti and global street culture.
